Jo Gordon, born and raised in Scotland, was sixteen years old when she first came into contact with knitting. Apparently, her father’s knitted hat was in need of replacement. With assistance from a friend of her mother, Gordon made her first piece of knitwear and first happy customer.
The first of many, in fact, for Gordon has been successfully running her own knitwear company since 1995, with which her mother’s friend, Vilma, still helps out. Gordon ascribes much of the company’s success to her cooperation with people who share her passion for Scottish tradition and craftsmanship.
All of Jo's wool is spun in Scotland, the different pieces are knitted in the UK or Scotland.
Jo explains: “Wool is an honest, functional material and Scotland has a long history of making and producing the best knitwear in the world. It is driven by people with incredible skills and since I started, I’ve worked with mills that share my passion for tradition and craft. Often small, these manufacturers understand the importance of keeping their skills alive. They are the best at what they do and supply quality and authenticity that is at the heart of what I produce.”
Jo's pieces bring a hint of color to any outfit, being the cherry on the pie. Bright, yet timeless.
